Technology

Technology

Hair (both human and pet hair) enters the washing machine via clothes and items such as towels and pet bedding. A normal wash with detergent alone does not dissolve in water. When you mix water and hair, it clumps, which then clogs up and puts a lot of stress on your plumbing.

Vamoosh Washing Machine Cleaner contains our unique patented 'HAIR DISSOLVING TECHNOLOGY' which effectively removes clogged up hair from your washing machine protecting it and preventing it from blockages and bad performance.

FAQs
  • How many beds /bedding can I put in at once?
It depends on their size, it is important not to overload the washing machine to give Vamoosh room to work; as a rough guide, we would recommend washing no more than 4 small blankets or towels in one wash or 1 large pet bed. For larger loads, we recommend using 2 sachets of Vamoosh per load.
  • What shall I do if Vamoosh is swallowed by my pet?
Seek urgent attention from your vet taking the product and packaging with you.
  • Why do I need Vamoosh?
Pet bedding needs to be washed regularly (experts recommend washing it once a week) to remove bacteria and odours, but most pet owners find that the pet hairs remain in the washing machine and tumble dryer. Vamoosh’s double action formula dissolves pet hairs so they do not remain on the fabric or appliances while also removing bacteria and odours.
  • How safe is Vamoosh for the environment?
The impact on the environment was a high priority for us when developing the formula for Vamoosh, so we made sure that no harmful substances are released into the environment when using Vamoosh. Read more here
  • What shall I do if Vamoosh is swallowed by my child?
Seek urgent medical attention taking the product and packaging with you.
  • What do I do if Vamoosh goes in my eyes?
Rinse cautiously with water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do so. Continue rinsing. Seek medical advice.
  • Why does Vamoosh need a high temperature wash?
Pet hair is very strong, so Vamoosh will only work on the longest, hottest cycle where the temperature of the water helps Vamoosh dissolve the hair.
  • My washing machine doesn’t go up to 85/95 degrees celsius. What do I do?
Vamoosh’s formula works on both pet hair and human hair (both of which are notoriously very tough to dissolve) and so in order for the formula to work, Vamoosh requires a temperature wash of 85-95 °C. During our research, we found that whilst some washing machines may not have a 85-95 °C wash as a standard setting, there is normally a temperature control that can be adjusted to 85-95°C manually.
  • Is it safe for the environment?
The impact on the environment was a high priority for us when developing the formula for Vamoosh, so we made sure that no harmful substances are released into the environment when using Vamoosh. You can read more here.
  • I tried it, but it didn't work
Sometimes we find that people use too cool a wash, or use a pre-wash setting, or don’t use enough Vamoosh for the load/amount of hair. For example, sometimes we find that 2 sachets are required for very hairy loads, or a particular item that has never been washed with Vamoosh before (and has a lot of ingrained hair) requires 2 sachets. We truly believe in our product and so please contact us if you'd like to chat further about your experience with Vamoosh.
  • What should I do if I get Vamoosh on my skin?
Immediately rinse the affected area thoroughly with running cold water. If there are any lingering effects, seek medical advice taking the pack/sachet of Vamoosh with you.
  • Can Vamoosh products be used in septic tanks?
Yes, Vamoosh Pet Hair Dissolver and Vamoosh Washing Machine Cleaner are perfectly safe to use with a septic tank system
  • When do I use / how often should I use Vamoosh?
Experts recommend washing pet bedding once a week.
  • Will Vamoosh work on a lower temperature wash?

  • Where do I store my Vamoosh?
Vamoosh should be stored like any other laundry product; for instance under the kitchen sink or in the utility room. It should be kept out of the reach of children or pets.
  • My pet bedding wouldn’t survive a 90 degree wash.
It depends what your pet bedding is made from, however, most pet bedding is made from synthetic materials and is much tougher than you may think. Following our extensive testing, we found that synthetic pet bedding was undamaged at this temperature. (We don’t recommend using Vamoosh however on pet bedding made from silk, wool or leather).
  • Can I replace my detergent with Vamoosh?
No. You will need to continue using your usual detergent. Vamoosh has been formulated for use alongside your detergent not to replace it.
  • Will Vamoosh work for my dog/cat's bedding?
Yes, Vamoosh works on both dog and cat hairs.
  • How do I use Vamoosh?

  • Can Vamoosh be used on all pet bedding?
Vamoosh can be used on all machine washable pet bedding except if it contains wool or silk. Check the fabric care label if in doubt.
  • How do I test colourfastness?
Cut a piece of fabric from a hem or seam from the pet bedding and put into a cup. Add a tea spoon of Vamoosh powder and boiling water. Stir and leave for 15 minutes, then rinse carefully and dry. Compare the colour of the treated snippet with the rest of the bedding. Do not use Vamoosh if the colours have faded.
  • Is Vamoosh tested on animals?
No, it is Vamoosh’s policy not to test our products on animals.
  • Will Vamoosh shrink my bed/ bedding?
It depends what your pet bedding is made from, however, most pet bedding is made from synthetic materials and is much tougher than you may think. Following our extensive testing, we found that synthetic pet bedding was undamaged at this temperature. (We don’t recommend using Vamoosh however on pet bedding made from silk, wool or leather). Also, any removable stuffing in the bedding should be taken out of the bedding before using Vamoosh and replaced after.
  • How does Vamoosh work?

  • What items can I use Vamoosh with?
Machine washable pet beds, pet blankets and dog towels. Vamoosh can also be used on human bedding as long as it's white and 100% cotton.
  • Can I wash my own bedding with Vamoosh?
Vamoosh is primarily designed for pet bedding, but it can be used on human bedding as long as it is 100% WHITE COTTON.
